The city of Brno is the largest city of the Moravian region and second largest city in the Czech Republic. The first written proof of Brno’s history is from the 5th century, however human presence in the area can be traced back to 700 000 years ago.
A number of well-known Universities can be found here and as such Brno is a true city of students and home to many nationalities. The mix of Brno’s rich history and the presence of young and energetic people have granted the city a very specific and unique energy that makes everybody feel at home in an instant.
Besides the vibrant city flair, Brno also offers many interesting sights and things to do in your spare time.
The most visited sights include the castle and fortress Spilberk, the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul on Petrov hill, as well as the Veveri Castle, the Brno lake and the functionalist Villa Tugendhat which has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites list.
The interesting architecture is joined by a rich culture – there are permanent theatre ensembles, opera, ballet and musical stages, a philharmonic orchestra, as well as a number of museums, galleries and libraries, a recently modernized observatory and planetarium, a ZOO and a botanical garden. More than 20 festivals of culture and theatre take place in the city each year, International competition fireworks festival as one of the most popular. The Brno Racing Circuit hosts the World Road Bike Championship, MotoGP of the Czech Republic each year.
Our GLC centre in Brno shares many similarities with the city it is located in. The team of 80 comes from all over the world.
