Niel Brand – ‘GLC’s diversity brings invaluable experience’
Load Control Agent, Cape Town, South Africa
For the past 3 years, I have been working for GLC in Cape Town, South Africa. As a Load Control Agent I plan the loading of passenger’s luggage as well as additional mail and cargo into the holds of an aircraft to ensure that the aircraft is in balance and trim before taking off. Once the ramp agent has loaded the aircraft according to my plan, I create the so called load sheet which is a pre-requisite for every single take off. Important is that all Lufthansa and international aviation industry rules are applied. That is a very responsible task, especially when it comes to special items like live animals or dangerous goods.
Martina Prokopová – ‘There is an amazing team spirit within the Global Load Control Network’
Load Control Agent, Brno, Czech Republic
I have been working for Global Load Control since September 2007. After a three-week introductory course in the classroom I started to handle ‘real’ flights – first under supervision but soon – after the completion of the so called ‘check out’ – I was allowed to handle regional and continental Lufthansa flights on my own. Today, I am a wide-body agent and responsible for the weight and balance calculations for Lufthansa’s long-haul flights like the Boeing 747 or Airbus 346, as well as all other operating carriers that GLC provides weight and balance services for. I further acquired a licence for a Lufthansa foreign system, a prestigious achievement. During the flight handling I am communicating with various airport personnel and ensure the smooth running of procedures related to safe and on-time flight handling. I am also a member of a group of skilled agents who provide quality control checks for flights handled by Global Load Control. I like my job and the people I work with. There is an amazing team spirit and a lot of challenging tasks to enhance your horizon.
Sarim Cakaroglu – ‘Global Load Control encourages you to take responsibility for your development and career’
Duty Manager, Istanbul, Turkey
After eight years in Switzerland, I decided to go back to Turkey and was very excited when I saw a Global Load Control job advertisement. I joined GLC as a Load Control Agent in January 2007 for the very first starter group in Istanbul.
Since February 2009, I have been working as a Duty Manager. In this position, I am responsible for the orderly processing of aircraft and the regular control over compliance with public and internal regulations on a specific shift. Therefore, my main tasks are the disciplinary and specialised leading of Load Control Agents on duty, as well as of my assigned team, and to provide technical support for the particular shift.
